Jacob's
2000 SVT F-150 is #3414, of 4,966 for that model year, 1 of 928 in Oxford
White. He acquired the Lightning in September of 2005 after his Land Rover was
totaled. He & his father were looking for a replacement. Jacob had a list of
vehicles in mind including an LS1 powered Firebird WS6 or an LT1
powered WS6 and 3rd choice was the Ford Lightning. After checking with the insurance company his
father convinced him to go with the
Lightning. Jacob spent his free time searching autotrader
and ebay and found his truck. His parents, wanting to surprise him pretty much blew
off the truck saying that they weren't too impressed with it, and would keep
looking for another. That Friday, I was coming home from college and saw it in the
driveway.
After getting the SVT F-150 the SES light was on and a Ford dealership had mentioned it was
due to the chip and everything was fine, however this was not the case, after
about 4 months he got the DTC codes and it said banks 1&2 were running lean, at
the time he didnt really know about programming and thought it had to do with
the chip, well about 7 months later coming back from a car show in August, the
number 4 piston decied to get rid of one of its rings and the motor was toast,
then 4 days after getting the truck back (after waiting for 4 months) the
transmission burned up, thanks to the first shop apparently knocking of the
converter and draining the fluid. When the 4 month long headache stopped Jacob
now had a practically new truck, with a warranty, new factory longblock, and new
transmission. 100,000 miles on the clock and still ticking on the chassis
at least.
